Years after YouTube’s launch, online providers have more sophisticated software tools than ever before for screening for infringing content. Yet even the most recent court decisions about what technical measures are required, and who is liable for copyright infringements, concern business practices from years ago. Using cases such as YouTube, UMG, and Megavideo, prominent lawyers in this area will work out where the outer edge of copyright enforcement currently lies, and how developments like SOPA and Pinterest will change the legal map.
