ROME THOMAS

As SVP Sales & Artist Development for record label & entertainment company A&M/Octone Records, Rome Thomas is responsible for developing sales and artist development- focused marketing strategy for an artist roster that boasts the likes of multi-platinum artists Maroon 5, K’NAAN, Flyleaf, Hollywood Undead, Bombay Bicycle Club & Kat Graham among others. Working closely with the label’s joint venture partner, Interscope/Universal Music Group, Thomas plans and implements programs for sales, marketing and digital execution for all of the artists on the roster.

Before joining A&M/Octone in January 2005, Thomas held a variety of positions in the Sony Music family from 1995-2004. Focus marketing campaigns during this period included releases from Incubus, System Of A Down, Jamiroquai, KoRn, Rage Against the Machine among many others. After coming aboard Epic as Director of Artist Development in 2000, Thomas worked as a Product Manager for releases by artists including Pearl Jam, Howie Day, Primal Scream, Phantom Planet, and Tenacious D. As Sony Music Label Sales Group's Senior Director of Online/Digital Sales, a position he held in 2003 until joining Octone Records in 2005, Thomas was part of the first migration of the traditional sales and digital departments working more closely together as new players like Apple iTunes among a broad new network of dsp's burst onto the scene.

In his eighth year at A&M/Octone, Thomas has had the pleasure of being able to blur the lines of his vast experience into one role.

Rome also serves on the Board of Directors for NY-based music charity, Musicians On Call.
