Brieanne Elpert is an attorney specializing in music copyright. She graduated from Harvard Law School in 2007 and began her practice in big firm general litigation before switching gears to join SoundExchange in 2011. Her background helped prepare her at her primary role in SoundExchange: the enforcment of the statutory license that SoundExchange administers to benefit artists and copyright owners. To that end, she helps ensure that music services are knowledgeable of and compliant with the license's requirements. She also assists with many of the legal issues that arise in a performance rights organization.
