Julian Hamilton

Julian Hamilton was born in 1976. He studied piano from a young age, and went on to pursue musical studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. There he met musical collaborator Kim Moyes. Together they went on to perform in the instrumental band Prop, and in 2003 formed the techno duo The Presets. In 2008 The Presets released the chart topping album Apocalypso, selling over 250,00 copies in Australia. Along with Moyes, he went on to win 5 ARIA awards for the album in 2009, including Album of the Year. They also shared the coveted Songwriter of The Year Award at the 2009 APRA Awards, and Best Live Act at the In The Mix Awards 2012. Hamilton has collaborated with other artists both as a songwriter, composer, producer and featured artist - including Silverchair, The Sleepy Jackson, Swedish House Mafia, Kris Menace and the Melbourne based contemporary dance company Chunky Move. He lives with his girlfriend and daughter in Sydney, Australia.
